Remember that time I told you I'd be better at writing these updates? Well apparently I'm still pretty trash at that...SORRY! I really will try and be better, but for now please enjoy this long awaited update of the last six months; it's been busy so theres a good amount to cover!

Music
"Back To You" - In my last update, I mentioned that we had been filming a music video for a new single "Back To You" by PTX Worship. Well would you believe that in a freak computer accident, most of that footage was lost. Tragic I know. That meant that we had to get a few more shots in so that we could complete the video, which we were able to do and I can assure you it looks amazing! I don't yet have an ETA on its release date, but I'll be sure to keep you updated when I know more.

"My Love (D&T)" - If you follow me on social media you may have seen two people pop up throughout the last couple of years who are very near and dear to my heart. My friends Tazmin and Daniel got engaged earlier this year and will be getting married in January; how exciting! I wanted to do something special for them, so seeing as I have this knack for song writing, I wrote them a song called "My Love (D&T)". I wanted this to be something they could have forever, something they could share with friends and family and have available to them whenever they desired to listen to it. With the help of my good friend Jerome, I recorded and produced the song, which has now been released on all platforms! I highly recommend you go and have a listen, I know I might be biased but it really is a brilliant song. Find it on a platfomr that suits you by following this link - https://www.google.com/search?q=My+Love+(D%26T)+Kate+Johnson&oq=My+Love+(D%26T)+Kate+Johnson&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i61l3.10798j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Wedding Season - I have been to many the wedding this year, both in person and online, and I have had the pleasure of singing at a couple of those too! A few weeks ago I was able to perform and MC for my good friends Brooke and Jake, after they said their "I Do"s and last weekend I sang Vanessa down the aisle to her now husband, Nigel. Being asked to sing at a wedding is a huge honour and as I've come to discover, so much fun! People are just nicer at weddings, and the free food definitely doesn't go a miss!
This year I... - In 2021 I have written approximately 38 songs (not including all the tracks I jumped in on for the others in my ministry). Am I happy with all of them? Not even close! But do I think some of them have the potential to be a huge turning point in my career as an artist? Absolutely I do. I'm so grateful that I get to grow in my gift and calling while being discipled and sharing the gospel to those who don't know Jesus. How good is God that He just longs to fulfil the desires of our hearts? Thankyou everyone for all your support of me in the last 2 years, you have not gone unnoticed and I'm working hard to be to display the fruit of your finances, prayers and encouragement!

Ministry
PTX have been working around the clock in the last few months, finalising songs, rehearsing for events and finding time to spend together as a family. While it's been a busy time for us, it has been heaps of fun and we have so much to show for it...even if we can't quite show you all yet!

In October, PTX were the headline act for an event here in Perth city centre called "Jesus Nights". The event ran from 4pm-10pm, with different bands, worship, testimonies and sharing of the gospel from the stage. Teams of people were in the crowds evangelising, praying over people, performing healings and inviting people to except Jesus into their heart. We had a great time performing at the event along with our friends from the city. What a way to show Gods heart for Perth?!

Photography
You might remember me mentioning a while ago that I had been given a very nice DSLR camera and a few of you even sent me some money to be able to buy some lenses so that I could use it! Well my journey in photography continues, however I guess it could be said that its going backwards! Around July, my boyfriend Jared gifted me a Nikon film camera, and that pretty much hooked me. Majority of my personal spends are now used to replenish my film stash rather than buy bubble tea. For my birthday I decided to treat myself to another, and purchased an Olympus superzoom film camera. I have to say shooting on film is a lot of fun and I'd like to think I'm getting better and better...but I'll let you be the judge of that, as all the photos in this update are brought to you by my point and shoots!

Windsor Street (aka The Fort)
I want to thank you all for your prayers and thoughts as we shuffled around with our house. A lot has happened in the last 6 months but most importantly God has provided at every opportunity. It wasn't long ago that I was stressing about resigning our lease, and finding roommates to fill in the gaps where others had moved on, but seeing what the other side looks like now I'm not too upset for the trouble. My house now consists of myself, Emily from Queensland/Vanuatu, Alisha from Perth, and Ariel from Canberra...so if you thought my accent was messed up before its about to get a whole lot more Australian!
Fun Things with Kate

Tazmin's Hens - Wherever there is a bride to be, there simply must be a celebration! As maid of honour, it was my duty and pleasure to put together a weekend full of fun for Taz and some of her favourite women. If you know us well then you'll know that the Johnsons know how to throw a good party, and so I can assure you I did not disappoint with this one! We took a drive down to Busselton and had a weekend getaway in an airbnb. There were games, beach trips, hikes, and most importantly good food. We definitely had Taz saying bye to her single life with a bang! Getting to do life with such wonderfully fun, God fearing women, is such a joy and I'm so grateful for friends like these.

Tribes - I LOVE MY CHURCH. Jared and I joined Tribes Church back when it first launched in March 2021, and wow, what an awesome time its been. Our church has seen incredible growth, so much so that we now end the year with nearly 60 people on team alone. It's a long slog on a Sunday; not having our own building is definitely tough as I'm sure all the Long Laners can also attest to! As the worship/production team, we usually get to church at around 2pm to "bump in" and set everything up, with the rest of the crew joining around 3:30pm. Our doors open at 5:45pm and from then till 8pm (or after depending on Holy Spirit) we praise and worship, hear the word and fellowship together. And then its time to pack it back up again! By the time I get home on a Sunday night I'm usually very tired but always overflowing with joy and love from being in His presence. I love being apart of building this house, and if you'd like to know more about Tribes, feel free to head over to tribesaustralia.com to see more!

NSW - I am currently sat with Jared in the Adelaide airport, waiting for our second flight to take us to NSW, to be with his family for Christmas and New Years. We've tried to fly over many times in the last year or so, however covid has gotten the better of us every time; BUT NOT TODAY! I'm stoked to finally get to meet the fam, and honestly we're both very in need of a holiday. We'll be on the east coast for about a month and then hopefully WA will let us back in! Please keep us in your prayers as we enjoy our holiday and as we attempt to make it home unscathed by quarantines or exemption applications come January!

Honestly what a year! In 2021 God taught me to be way more patient than I ever thought I'd need to be at 23. He also taught me the importance of rest, and how my hard work and 100% effort, simply needs me to take the time to rest and recuperate, in order to function and provide Him with the level of excellence He deserves. He has provided me with deeper relationships, a strong church and church family, finances for my needs, vision for my life and for some of His plans for me, and a grace that has sustained me throughout every trial. At the start of the year God told me that this year would be "bigger" and looking back, I think I saw it going a little differently. If you caught Cody Byrne's message on Sunday at Tribes, you'll know that bigger doesn't always mean better, and thats something I can attest to looking back on 2021. Although this hasn't been the best year of my life, I have learnt so much about myself and about who Jesus is calling me to be, and I can honestly say that I am thankful for the bigger that this year brought, even the parts that somewhat rocked the boat.
2021 has been well and truly mad...lets see if 2022 gives us a little more chill!
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody!
Lots of Love, Kate xxx
